Belfast is home to the world famous Harland and Wolff Shipyard, dating from the 1860s, which has been involved in the construction of numerous vessels throughout the century, with the most famous surely being The Titanic. Built during 1910-12, the Titanic was a super luxury liner 882.5 feet long, 92.5 feet wide, and with a crew of 700 provided luxurious accommodation for more than 1,500 passengers. Public access to the shipyard is limited, applications made in writing to the Public Affairs Office.
