Alexandra Park in north Belfast opened in 1888 and was named after Princess Alexandra.
The park’s formal layout and its avenues of trees, particularly in the upper area of the park, towards Jubilee Avenue, reflect the site’s Victorian character.
The park is particularly popular with wildlife enthusiasts and is home to a variety of water birds and other species.
This includes the dipper, a bird normally found in fast-flowing mountain rivers, and regularly seen alongside the Milewater Stream in the park.
The area’s lower glen, which runs down towards Deacon Street, provides great views across Belfast.
